This is the place to get the absolutely best baked goods (ladylocks!) and cakes you'll ever taste. You will never find better icing anywhere else, I promise you. I am from this area but I currently live in Austin, TX. The closest I've found to Minerva was a Whole Foods cake and it was like a 7/10 whereas Minerva is and has always been 10/10 for me. Their icing is the lightest, creamiest and not too sweet. Please don't ever change this recipe. I came to town to visit family and they bought me this lovely "Thanksgiving" cake since I won't be here for the holiday. Their decoration is also so pretty. But again I stress, you will NEVER find better icing as long as they use their current recipe. If you've never tried it, you are big time missing out.

I honestly never heard of this place. Me and my daughter decided it was a good day to walk to her appointment as we walked past there was a young lady just smiling. I looked up it said bakery! We didn’t go in but I asked the dentist receptionist about them so we decided to go back afterwards (I know her dentist would be disappointed) it was a little cute shop clean not much of a selection but I heard you can order what you like in advance. I got cream filled, sprinkles, chocolate cake slice, sprinkled doughnut and pineapple upside down cake. For about $12! Not bad… The cream was perfect the donuts were good the icing on the cake was delicious perfect to me BUT THE PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE was fireeeee the best I have ever had definitely worth the $4 the caramelized borders sweetness and slight taste of butter the moistness of the cake omg I want more!! Literally everything about that was heavenly. I do wish I had a whole cherry on top but I’m not complaining!!! I can’t wait to go back we did go around 10:30 in the morning so everything was fresh.. I say go treat yourself there the prices aren’t bad maybe .50-$1 difference from groceries store (for cake slices and doughnuts) it’s worth it to have that homemade love mixed taste kind of feeling I wish I had pictures we all ate it too fast lol. Oh and the ladies in there were sweet and very nice there weren’t any sprinkled doughnuts but they took one in the back and added it for me. They were very patient with me I took awhile to decide what my husband and kids wanted

I have been going to Minerva Bakery since childhood. I started getting my nut rolls and other various snacks that remind me of seeing my mother bake for us as a kid. I recently purchased a cake from them for my birthday and I must say, it was FANTASTIC. It was made to Perfection. Hats off to all the staff. The cake is/was light and melt in your mouth fluffy. The icing,(Buttercream), was beautifully mixed and sweetened to perfection. I mean it was just right, not overly sweet and melted in your mouth with every bite. The strawberries and the strawberry whipped middle layer just added to the deliciousness. If you have yet to order a cake from them you need to make it a must. Thank you Minerva for such a Wonderful Cake.

Fabulous pastries and apparently the only place left in Pittsburgh (at least east/south) that still makes and sells bobalki (bobalky)! If you know otherwise, share your secret.

They have been there for over 30 yrs. I worked at a candy Warehouse next to them. I would go in there for buns for my lunch. Any a whole of stuff which has been nothing but quality. U can always call them for what u need to pick up. And if they have it so u can get the stuff u want. Alway pacjed the way u want it. The staff is great. UPDATE MAY, 2025: Still as good as I remember! AND....I've been searching for years around every local bakery/pastry shop & NONE OF THEM make good Cheese Pockets! They've all begun using the cream cheese type filling like you find in a Danish or mixed w/ some fruit in a sweet roll or coffee cake. MINERVA knows!!! You're supposed to use the sweet, dry curd cottage cheese in an old fashioned yummy cheese pocket!! I'm so happy they happened to have them the other day when I stopped in!! I thought the days of ever eating a TRUE, ORIGINAL-TYPE Cheese Pocket were gone for good, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see their fresh-baked cheese pockets on full display (CALLING MY NAME!!) And I was soooo happy to find them, and without fail, they were DELICIOUS. So much better than other local places "phoning it in" with that creamy cheese/fake filling!! Very good...this place has been around for hundreds of years !! Their quality never ceases to amaze me! This is my birthday cake and the other picture is a mix of delicious donuts and apple fritters. YUM
